Suzuki lifted the lid on their electric SUV at the Auto Expo 2023 in Delhi, India. The Japanese brand says that the concept combines “strong 4x4 DNA with the advanced features of the latest BEVs”.
Official specifications have not been released, however, we know that the eVX contains a 60kWh battery that’ll help it go 342 miles according to the Indian MIDC test cycle. It’s also similar in size to the Suzuki S-Cross and will rival the likes of the Kia Niro EV and the Nissan Ariya upon its release.
Suzuki has an ongoing partnership with Toyota which should be valuable to the brand as it ventures into the world of electric cars. Toyota’s bZ range could influence Suzuki’s electric line-up in the coming years.
Another partnership that could benefit the brand is the one it has with Canadian firm inMotive. The two companies are working together to create an ‘Ingear’ two-speed transmission for EVs which could improve range and acceleration.
Suzuki will want to keep the eVX as a more budget-friendly market option so there’s a chance that it will only be available in a single-motor, two-wheel-drive powertrain.
The exterior of the concept carries over Suzuki’s SUV styling cues. The EV has big muscular wheel arches and appears to have a large ground clearance which will help it to be the rugged, off-roading electric SUV it’s intended to be.
