The plan is to offer drivers of electric vehicles pathways that will maximise battery range. This system is still undergoing development, but if implemented, could further help to boost real-world driving ranges and make EVs more practical.
Furthermore, Google Maps is also looking to create tailor-made routes for petrol, diesel and hybrid vehicles too.
Optimised journeys for an electric vehicle and an ICE vehicle could differ greatly due to EVs being more efficient at lower speeds whereas ICE vehicles prefer motorway speeds. As well as this, pathways that go by EV charging stations could be very beneficial for electric drivers.
