In addition to its electric cars, NIO will also bring their battery swapping stations that can swap out a compatible EV battery in just 5 minutes.
NIO began its European venture in Norway last year. Now it's expanding to Germany, Sweden, the Netherlands and Denmark later this year with its ET7, EL7 and ET5 models.
The ET7 is a large saloon that will start being delivered to the aforementioned countries on October 16th. The EL7 large SUV and ET5 saloon will follow in March.
The need to manufacture right-hand-drive cars means that NIO’s entry into the UK will come after the rest of Europe. The smaller ET5 is likely to arrive at some point next year along with at least one other vehicle from the brand’s growing EV line-up.
The cars will be available to order via NIO’s subscription service which is designed to encourage EV uptake. In Germany, Sweden, the Netherlands and Denmark you can order a brand-new NIO now from 1 to 60 months.
NIO is one of a few Chinese manufacturers that have been looking to reach out to European markets in the last few years. GWM has recently come over to the UK with its GWM ORA Funky Cat which you can check out here!
