Over the next 10 years, Nissan hopes to have 23 new electrified models across its line-up, all whilst trying to lower the cost of EVs through improving lithium-ion battery technology.
The unveiling of this pledge saw the Japanese manufacturer tease 4 new ambitious concepts. The Chill-Out, Surf-Out, Hang-Out, and Max-Out vehicles each show off unique characteristics which we’ll break down below.
Chill-Out
As its name suggests, the Chill-Out aims to give its passengers as much comfort as possible. Described as a ‘mobile heaven’ the concept will sit upon the CMF-EV platform which will be used by the upcoming Nissan Ariya.
The car will feature advanced safety tech and an interior space that prioritises comfort and productivity.
Surf-Out
The Surf-Out is the rugged off-road option for the adventurous types. This vehicle comes with ample cargo space and a smooth ride to withstand many types of terrain. The idea is that with the Surf-Out you’ll be able to travel anywhere.
Hang-Out
The Hang-Out concept is all about hanging out and focuses on the social side of motoring. The car itself is like your home squeezed onto four wheels.
A completely flat floor from front to back and a structure that suppresses vibrations provide a space for productivity and comfort. Theatre-like seating allows for you and your friends to enjoy movie nights out wherever you wish to travel.
Max-Out
The Max-Out is a two-seater convertible that has a focus on performance and an enjoyable driving experience.
A low centre of gravity enables the car to handle sharp corners with ease and foldable passenger seating means you can swiftly increase cargo space.
Details on all of these vehicles are scarce at the moment but they give us an idea of the direction that Nissan want to take over the coming years.
Nissan Ambition 2030 will see around £33 billion invested into EV technology across the next 5 years, during which time they aim to make electric vehicles account for at least 75% of its sales.
