The Ioniq 7 will be due in 2024 and should arrive a couple of years after the forthcoming Ioniq 6 saloon.
A highlight of the 7 is its "aerodynamically pure silhouette". Hyundai thinks that the car's low bonnet line, long wheelbase and curved roof will make it stand out against other SUVs in its category.
Streamlined aerodynamics was at the heart of the thinking on this concept. The wheels will feature 'Active Air Flaps' that have the ability to either reduce drag or cool the brakes.
More exterior features include a single-piece glass tailgate and a 'Parametric Pixel’ multi-LED light design that wraps around the tailgate and across the rear.
The 7 will be based upon the E-GMP modular electric platform that can be seen on the Ioniq 5. However, changes will see the wheelbase stretched to allow for a large flat floor area.
The increased space this longer wheelbase will provide is another highlight of the concept. Hyundai describes this as a "completely new dimension of space".
On the inside, passengers will be met by lounge-styled seating, a "Universal Island", which appears to be a futuristic footstool, and a cushioned bench that wraps around the back of the interior space.
Hyundai is aiming to provide a luxury experience on this concept with an onboard mini-fridge and an OLED panoramic glass roof to create a relaxed atmosphere on your travels.
These features are all very ambitious, so don't be surprised if many of these don't make the final product that will be released in 3 years.
The range of the vehicle is expected to exceed 300 miles and charging this vehicle to 80% with a 350kW charger should take about 20 minutes.
