Electric Fiat 500 ranks as cleanest EV

A new rating on the electric Fiat 500 saw the Italian city car reach top marks in Green NCAP’s Clean Air Index, Energy Efficiency Index and the Greenhouse Gas Index – becoming the first EV to do so, as of August 2021.

Green NCAP is an independent initiative that looks to promote and rate cars based on their energy efficiency and environmental cleanliness.

Both laboratory and real world tests were are conducted in order to achieve a score. These take place in different temperatures and in different driving conditions.

The EV Database UK has also scored the Electric Fiat 500 as the most efficient electric car currently on the market with a 235 watt-hours per mile (Wh/mi) rating. This narrowly improves on the Wh/mi ratings of the Hyundai IONIQ, MINI Electric and Hyundai Kona.

The 500 is Fiat’s first fully electric model and these stats only highlight the success of small Turinese car.
